How does money affect happiness?
For the
third project I am not quiet sure what I want to do yet. I think that off of my main question for a
subtopic I am going to use what is true happiness and how can you find it. I want the purpose of this text to be that
you can find happiness in non material things.
As a result of this text I want people who are struggling and being
stressed out by money to find happiness in something other then money. I want people to feel like they just read
something that is true and makes them go out and look at life a little
different. For the audience of this text I think there are a lot of different
groups it could affect. This text could
be used for the wealthy that don’t have happiness, for the poor who need happiness,
or just for anyone who is struggling with some sort of financial problems. All of these groups share the same interest
of wanting to be happy. I am not really
sure what genre my piece will be but I am thinking a newspaper article or an
article you could find in some sort of life magazine. Both genres will use text, I also will
incorporate some images into them. Right
now I do not really understand the conventions of this genre except for what I have
picked up on them by reading articles.
Right now I think that I will use an online article as my model
text. The link is here http://www.wsj.com/articles/can-money-buy-happiness-heres-what-science-has-to-say-1415569538
Overall I am
not exactly sure what I will be doing for this project, I have some ideas but
nothing I am really set on yet. I think
that I could go multiple different ways for this project.
Hi Jess,
ReplyDeleteSo I think you have a great start to an idea here. You're going to have to nail down more of the details, though. So, this article includes images, text, and document design (which is 3 modes), so you're going to probably need to create a second text/some other genre to go with this that includes other odes. So maybe creating the webpage for the article is one way. Or maybe you cold create a meme that illustrates the same idea that wold go on facebook or something. These are just some ideas.
You also need to hammer our more clearly who your audience is. If you pick an article as a model text (like from an online magazine or something) you could do a little research on what the audience for the magazine is and use the same audience for you text. If you do multiple texts, you might have different audiences for each. Finally, I'd suggest finding a model text that isn't on the same topic as your project. It just makes things confusing when it's about the same thing. Instead, find an article that is doing the same thing as what you want to do--so telling a story, or using research, or arguing something, etc. Hope this helps.
